Brace yourself for the most astonishing, challenging, upsetting, and profoundly moving book in many a season. An epic about love and friendship in the twenty-first century that goes into some of the darkest places fiction has ever traveled and yet somehow improbably breaks through into the light.

Hanya Yanagihara is an American novelist and travel writer of Hawaiian ancestry. She is a deputy editor at The New York TimesStyle Magazine. Her first novel, The People in the Trees, based on the real-life case of the virologist Daniel Carleton Gajdusek, was praised as one of the best novels of 2013. A Little Life is her second novel.
